What is dance to me as an artist?

I am a dance artist and performer. To me, dance is about being able to express my emotions and or showcase my strengths through my movements and being able to connect with an audience through visual art.

What do I love about performing?

Being able to perform to an audience and present my hard work and passion to others is one of my favorite parts of performing. For others to see my work and being able to appreciate it as much as I do is such a validating feeling as an artist. Being on stage and having the ability to be so vulnerable and open to an audience is such a beautiful thing and brings me so much joy to make others feel.

Why is dance important to me?

Not only do I use dance as a creative outlet but also using it to tell a story or an experience is such a freeing feeling and helps others connect to me and to each other as they watch it. The action of thinking of a concept for a piece to then executing it and then being able to present it to others is a process I’ve grown to love and desire as I’ve submerged myself in the art. Dance can also be a form of emotional release or a creative outlet. Being able to present artwork of others and my own is such a powerful act and I am proud to be able to do it.
